Sibusiso Nkosi: How did you start your business and why did you choose this particular sector?
Sibulelo Mafrika: After being retrenched from my events company due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I recognized a growing demand for cleaning services as people prioritized hygiene in their homes and workplaces, especially after the isolation period has ended, after one has survived the disease. With my background in event management, I understood the importance of attention to detail and customer satisfaction, which made the transition to the cleaning sector a natural fit for me.
Sibusiso Nkosi: What are some of the biggest challenges you face in your business?
Sibulelo Mafrika: One of the biggest challenges is ensuring a consistent flow of clients, especially in an unpredictable market. Also, managing operational costs while maintaining high service quality can be challenging. Training staff to adhere strictly to safety and cleanliness standards is also essential and requires continual effort.
Sibusiso Nkosi: What are your goals for your business?
Sibulelo Mafrika: My goals for Zithandele Cleaning Services include expanding our client base, introducing more eco-friendly cleaning options and eventually branching into related services, such as facility management. I also aim to create job opportunities in the community and establish Zithandele as a go-to name in the cleaning industry.
